Message from the Head
THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK
Overall we believe behaviour is outstanding at Broadway. Our attention is now turning to our use of language; what we say and how we say it. The spoken word is so important.

Curriculum - Key Stage 3
classroomTo enable learning to be more efficient and effective we have designed a flexible Key Stage 3 curriculum which stimulates, motivates and interests our pupils, whilst giving them their statutory entitlements.
The Year 7 course includes the core subjects of English, Mathematics and Science, together with Art, Music, Drama, Physical Education and the study of a modern European language. It is underpinned by a competency curriculum, SKATE which focuses on the acquisition of learning and thinking skills through an integrated, thematic approach based on History, Geography, Religious Education, Citizenship and PHSE and ICT. Some Year 8 pupils continue with this programme, whilst others learn about humanities as separate disciplines. All Year 8 follow a Language course based on choices made at the end of Year 7 according to skills, knowledge and ability.

All pupils take part in Deep Learning Days throughout the year when the timetable is suspended and a range of activities offered to support a particular theme. At the start of Year 9 pupils begin GCSE courses in English and Mathematics, together with some creative and technology courses they opted for at the end of Year 8.

They continue to study other foundation subjects which will enable them to make further choices of what to study in Years 10 and 11.

Particular attention is given to supporting pupils when they make choices through appropriate Information, Advice and Guidance.
